We are currently looking for someone with the right DNA to become our newest Customer Service Specialist.

What does a Customer Service Specialist do?

Talks to our most prized possession, our customers. We are a technology company, but texting and email can’t sooth a customer like hearing the sweet sound of a Customer Service Specialist’s voice.

Collects details from our customers and inputs them into our Super Fantastic Awesome Issue Tracking System; really that is what it is called.

Assigns and escalates issues to our technical geniuses. Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to be an Internet Genius, we can always build another one of those; maybe you can help us do that too.

What qualifies you to be a Customer Service Specialist?

Your personality. We don’t need anymore robots, we need human beings who can sympathize with a customer and help them understand we are working to resolve their issues.

Your willingness to help someone in need. You are the kind of person that finds a lost $10 bill and obsess about finding the proper owner.

A confident disposition. You may not always have the answers, but everyone thinks you always do.

Your vocabulary lacks the word “Ummmm…”. You are an excellent communicator and your conversation doesn’t require filler.

If you think you are interested and email your resume (PDF format only, please) to hr@donet.com.

We are currently looking for smart, energetic people to shine at our technical support help desk.

What would qualify you for such a position?

A love of all things technical. You dream in binary (or at least know what binary is).

You are the one everyone in the family calls when they have “computer problems”. We treat our customers as family so first hand experience is invaluable.

You are looking to get started in the IT industry. Our staff is full of the most talented IT professionals in Dayton, all waiting to tell you how smart they are.

Flexible hours. We want to help your IT career, so this position is tailored for people going to school but wanting to get some real world experience.

Mentors at your disposal. If your interest is operating systems, network design or programming, we have all the brainpower you could wish to feast on.

Real job experience. College degrees and all that “book learning” are great, but nothing compares to job experience.

It is our great pleasure to announce our plans to move and expand our primary facility!

For the last two years, Donet’s management team has been surveying the entire downtown area, searching for a suitable place to locate our new facility. Nearly six months ago our search field narrowed when we identified 130 West Second as a potential future home. All the details were worked out last week and we signed a long-term lease for approximately 13,000 sq’ of total space in the building. This is more than double the footprint we occupy in our current facility.

Donet will fully occupy the entire second floor mezzanine of 130 West Second with 12,000 sq’ of space. Of the 12,000 sq’, roughly 4,000 sq’ will be reserved for our new data center and supporting mechanical equipment. Another 1,000 sq’ of space in the basement will be used to house our UPS equipment and the generator transfer switch to provide continuous power. With the new facility and supporting infrastructure, we expect our cabinet capacity to more than double at a significantly higher power density. This means we’ll be able to power and cool heavier IT cabinet loads than we can today, and lots more of them. Furthermore, as the company expands in the future we’ll have room to grow into the remaining space on the second floor.

There were two key considerations that factored into our decision to move and build out a new facility. First, we need access to significantly more power to drive the IT loads we think our customers will expect us to support. Second, every kilowatt of power consumed by servers and network gear generates a corresponding amount of heat that has to be drawn out of the room. Our new facility at 130 West Second will provide us access to 5,000 sq’ of roof space within easy reach, allowing us to remove the heat we expect the new data center to generate.

We are already working with our builder and architect to design the space, and expect to start construction in April 2012. The construction schedule is still being developed, but we’re shooting for data center operational capacity to be available this fall. Once the data center comes online we’ll begin the process of migrating services from our current facility to the new. Although the dates are not yet certain, we’re going to do everything we can to minimize downtime and make the migration as pain-free as possible to our customers. Please stay tuned to this blog for updates as they become available. We’ll also be communicating directly with customers with information that uniquely pertains to them or their services.

See the article written by Joe Cogliano in the Feb 3, 2012 edition of the Dayton Business Journal.
